Steps to be taken to boost fish production: Minister

Fisheries and Livestock Minister M Sayedul Haque on Monday said the government will take all necessary steps, including providing easy loan for farmers, to boost the country’s fish production and export. Bangladesh is currently in the fifth position in fish production across the globe and the country can improve the position further by increasing fish production and export, he said. The fisheries minister was addressing a seminar organised by Fish Farm Owners Association, Bangladesh (FOAB) at the Department of Fisheries in the capital marking the National Fisheries Week. Sayedul Haque said the fisheries sector is the country's second largest foreign currency earner, according to a news agency.
