Steps undertaken for dev of herbal medicine

Deputy speaker of the Jatiya Sangsad Shawkat Ali said the government had stepped up various efforts for the development of herbal medicines to ensure health care services for rural masses.
"That's why the government is considering to appoint herbal medicine practitioners to different medical college hospitals of the country,' he added.
The deputy speaker was inaugurating the completion of 28 years celebration of Modern Herbal Group (MHG) at the city's Bangabandhu International Conference Center Saturday, reports BSS.
Deputy speaker said at present the MHG was producing international standard medicines and various other products. The MHG was also playing an important role in creating job opportunities as well as contributing a lot to the economic prosperity of the country.
Shawkat Ali urged different organisations to cultivate more plants with medicinal value for producing Unani and Ayurvedic medicines.
Chaired by MGH Chairman Dr Alamgir Moti, the function was also addressed, among others, by Commerce Minister Lt Col (Retd) Faruq Khan and Lion Engineer M Shahjahan Khadem.
