Stern action against vandalism during hartal: Quamrul
Sunday, 4 December 2011
The government will take stern action against those who would create anarchy during BNP's dawn-to-dusk hartal in Dhaka today (Sunday), reports BSS.
State Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Quamrul Islam sounded the note of warning at a discussion at the Central Public Library Saturday.
"We would not prevent the BNP from its planned strike, but actions would be taken if they try to create anarchy by vandalising vehicles or setting those on fire," he said.
State Minister for Home Affairs Advocate Shamsul Haque Tuku, however, urged the opposition BNP to withdraw today's illogical hartal.
"Dhaka City Corporation (DCC) was divided into two parts aimed at increasing services for the people," he said after visiting the scene of devastating fire at Bata shoe complex at Bangabandhu Avenue. BNP's hartal is to save the war criminals, he said.
