FE REPORT | Thursday, 29 February 2024

Inspector General of Police Chowdhury Abdullah Al Mamun on Wednesday warned that stern legal action will be taken if any police member is found in possession of drugs.
He issued the warning while distributing prizes among the winning units of police on different categories and 'IGP's Exemplary Good Services Badge' at Rajarbagh Police Lines Parade Ground in the capital on the second day of Police Week.
"If any of our (police) members is found involved with drugs then we usually take harsher action compared to any ordinary individual (civil)," he said.

He also said those who are addicted to drugs would not get job in police service.
"Drugs and corruption are the silent killers in society," he said.
He added that police will succeed in dealing with drugs as they (police) have registered a great success in curbing terrorism and violence.
The IGM reminded the police personnel that they (police) have zero tolerance policy against terrorism, violence and drugs.
The police chief further said that they were working to make police department people-friendly and transform the force into a smart one.
He said that necessary directives were also given to all police stations so that people could visit police stations without fear.
"You (police personnel/ members) should be technology oriented, mass oriented, people and service oriented alongside being women and child-friendly," he said.
