Saturday, 19 July 2014
Communications Minister Obaidul Qauder said Friday disciplinary action would be taken against the engineers concerned with the repair work of the dilapidated roads if they fail to do accordingly within next two days, reports BSS.
"Engineers must complete the ongoing repair work of all dilapidated roads under the Roads and Highways Department by July 20, otherwise the concerned engineer will face disciplinary action," the minister told newsmen after inspecting the progress of the repair work at Jurain-Postgola-Pagla road in the capital.
He added: "Not only that a failed engineer would be replaced by a dynamic one."
Mr Quader said the government is very sincere to remove the sufferings to the home-bound people who are set to pass their Eid with their near and dear ones.
The minister expressed his dissatisfaction over the severe traffic tailback in the Jurain Rail Gate area and directed the concerned police officials to take necessary steps in this connection.
He also asked the members of the law enforcement agencies to take stern measures against the toll collection on the highways ahead of the Eid-ul-Fitr.
Senior officials of the communications ministry, engineers of road and highways and senior police officials, among others, accompanied the minister.
