Wednesday, 5 March 2014

State Minister for Home Affairs Asaduzzaman Khan Tuesday said stern actions will be taken against those involved in the snatching of convicted militants from a prison van in Mymensingh, reports UNB.
The state minister came up with the remarks while talking to reporters after laying the foundation stone of Fire Service and Civil Defence (FSCD) Burn Treatment Hospital in the city's Mirpur area.
He said the committee, formed in this regard by the Home Ministry, has already submitted a report after investigating the incident and actions will be taken against those found responsible by the probe committee for it.
Earlier, a panel formed by the Home Ministry to probe the snatching of convicted militants found police and the jail authorities responsible for the daring incident.
The probe body said the incident took place due to the negligence of police and the jail authorities.
Two probe committees-one by the Home Ministry and another by the police-were formed to investigate the snatching of three convicted members of the banned militant outfit Jama'at-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) from a prison van killing a policeman in Mymensingh on February 23.
Addressing the function at the FSCD, the junior minister thanked Chinese Ambassador Li Jun for providing over 50 ambulances and calamity rescue equipment donated by the Chinese government.
