Stocks continue to surge on DSE

The stock prices on the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) continued to surge for the second consecutive day Thursday due to buying spree by the investors.
A Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of a brokerage house told the FE that the prices of the shares gained mainly due to fresh enthusiasm by the investors after three-days' profit-taking.
"Moreover, fresh funds are being injected in the market, as some attractive shares of both public and private companies will be listed on the DSE for trading soon. As a result, the market will witness bullish trend in near future," he said.
Besides the recently listed companies with the DSE, the trading of state-owned Jamuna and Megha Oil Companies will start from end- October this year.
Following the strong buying support from the buyers' end all the market barometres including indices, the total turnover and the total market capitalisation and the volume of trade increased further compared with the previous day.
On the day's trading session DSE-20 Index (DS20), DSE General Index (DGEN) and All Shares Price Index (DSI) gained 47.226 points, 39.382 points and 36.258 points to close at 2045.789, 2553.999 and 2116.429 respectively.
The total turnover rose to Tk 1.766 billion from Tk 1.272 billion on the previous day Wednesday. The total market capitalisation reached at Tk 599.489 billion from its previous Tk 591.007 billion Wednesday last.
Out of 200 traded issues prices of 123 gained, 62 declined and 15 remained unchanged.
Summit Power maintained its position as the turnover leader with traded shares worth Tk 152.148 million followed by Prime Bank Tk 147.870 million, BRAC Bank Tk 119.127 million, Power Grid Tk 85.366 million, UCBL Tk 63.508 million, Desco Tk 54.812 million, AB Bank Tk 52.254 million, Grameen One Mutual Fund Tk 47.041million, AIMS 44.818 million and Southeast Bank Tk 37.646 million.
Prices of Summit Power gained 0.53 per cent to Tk 1468.50, Prime Bank 6.61 per cent to Tk 809.75, BRAC Bank 1.37 per cent to Tk 1251.25, Power Grid 2.78 per cent to Tk 637.25, UCBL 2.03 per cent to Tk 4544.50, AB Bank 3.44 per cent to Tk 2305.00, Southeast Bank 4.36 per cent to Tk 526.50, Peoples Insurance 10.91 per cent to Tk 447.00, Eastern Lubricant 12.44 per cent to Tk 457.30, BDFINANCE 12.27 per cent to Tk 251.50 and IFIC Bank 13.42 per cent to Tk 3060.75.
Grameen One Mutual Fund remained unchanged at Tk 57.10 and AIMS at Tk 6.52
Prices of Desco declined 0.12 per cent 1155.50.
