Stocks down at opening amid volatility

Share prices on both bourses – Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) – saw negative trend in early hours of trading Sunday amid see-saw, the opening day of the week. DSEX, the prime index of the DSE went down by 4.26 points or 0.08 per cent to stand at 4,756.91 points after first 30 minutes of trade at 11am. The DS30 index, comprising blue chips declined 7.97 points or 0.47 per cent to reach at 1,680.05 points. DSEX Shariah Index (DSES) lost 3.26 points or 0.32 per cent to stands at 992.00 points. The turnover value on DSE stands at Tk 712 million when the report was filed at 11am. Of the issues traded till then, 84 gained, 80 declined and 40 remained unchanged. Bangladesh Shipping Corporation (BSC) was the most traded stocks with shares worth Tk 214 million changing hands till then followed by IDLC, BSCCL, GP and Lafarge Surma Cement. The port city bourse – the CSE also saw negative amid volatility at opening and the Selective Category Index - CSCX dropped 7.73 points or 0.05 per cent to stand at 9,333.76 points, also at 11am. Of the issues traded till then, 34 gained, 46 declined and 10 remained unchanged with a turnover value of Tk 83.36 million.
