Stocks down at opening with volatility

The Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) opened downward trend in early hour of trading on Thursday with volatility, the last session of the week. The prime index of the DSE –DSEX-- went down by 7.33 points or 0.15 per cent to 4,708.74, after the first 30 minutes of trade when the report was filed at 11:00am. The two other induces also saw negative trend. The DS30 index, comprising blue chips dropped 2.36 points or 0.13 per cent to 1,785.88. The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) shed 2.09 points or 0.18 per cent to stand at 1,125.48. DSE turnover stood at Tk503 million when the report was filed. Of the issues traded till then, 67 advanced, 85 declined and 32 remained unchanged. KDS Accessories, which made trading debut today, is the most traded stocks till then with shares Tk219 million changing hands followed by United Power, Lafarge Surma Cement, Beximco Pharma and Aman Feed. The port city bourse – CSE— also saw downward trend in early hour with its Selective Category Index -- CSCX – losing 7.90 points to stand at 8,780.89, also at 11:00am. Of the issues traded till then, 30 gained, 45 declined and 8 remained unchanged with a turnover value of Tk60 million.
