Stocks extend gaining streak for 8th session

Stocks on the bourses extended gaining streak for the eighth running sessions Sunday with turnover improved further as investor confidence boosted up amid stable political situation in recent days. The market started in a positive trend in the morning and the key index of the prime bourse gained 40 points within first 30 minutes and the upward trend continued till the market closure. At the end of the session, the prime index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) - DSEX went up by 46.04 points or 1.01 per cent to close the session at 4,565.40 points, highest since its inception on January 27, 2013 on the DSE.
The DSEX started its journey on January 27, 2013 with a base point of 4,055.90. The DS30 index, comprising blue chips also advanced 19.32 points or 1.21 per cent to close at 1,612.10 points. Turnover value on the DSE improved further to Tk 7.08 billion, registering 10.10 per cent increase over the previous session value of Tk 6.43 billion. Gainers beat losers 167 to 112, with 15 issues closed unchanged on the DSE floor.
