Stocks mixed amid strike

Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) witnessed negative trend and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) positive in early hours of trading at the country’s two bourses amid nationwide hartal (shutdown) on Monday, the 2nd session of the week. DSEX, the prime index of the DSE, went down slightly by 2.43 points or 0.05 per cent to 4,910.81 after the 1st 30 minutes of trade when the report was filed at 11.05am. The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) dropped 0.02 point to stands at 1,153.99 points.  However, the DS30 index, comprising blue chips, gained 0.96 points or 0.05 per cent to reach 1,901.65. DSE turnover stood at Tk 1.38 billion when the report was filed at 11am. Of the issues traded till then, 71 advanced, 114 declined and 26 remained unchanged. The new issue – RSRM Steels – was the most traded stocks with shares worth Tk 262 million changing hands till then followed by GP, Beximco, Beximco Pharma and RAK Ceramics. The port city bourse, CSE, rose in early hour with its Selective Category Index – CSCX – gaining 29.17 points to reach 9,247.05, also at 11am. Of the issues traded till then, 41 gained, 51 declined and 11 remained unchanged with a turnover value of Tk 134 million.
