Stocks mixed at opening

The Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) opened positive while the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) saw negative trend in early part of the session on Tuesday, the 3rd trading day of the week. DSEX, the prime index of the DSE, went down by 3.91 points or 0.08 per cent to stand at 4,412.04 points after first 30 minutes of trade when the report was filed at 11am. The DS30 index, comprising blue chips, lost 2.53 points or 0.15 per cent to reach 1,626.51 points. DSEX Shariah Index (DSES) also went down 2.29 points or 0.22 per cent to stand at 1,013.12 points. The turnover value on the DSE stood at Tk 780 million when the report was filed at 11am. Of the issues traded till then, 102 advanced, 50 declined and 36 issues remain unchanged. Lafarge Surma Cement was the most traded stocks with shares worth Tk 289 million changing hands till then followed by BSRM Steels, BD Building, EHL and GPH Ispat. On the other hand, the Chittagong stock Exchange – CSE – saw positive trend at opening with its Selective Category Index -- CSCX – gaining 2.73 points to stand at 8,368.13 points, also at 11am. Of the issues traded at the port city bourse till then, 31 gained, 30 declined and 11 remained unchanged with a turnover value of Tk 44 million.
