Stocks open mixed with choppy trading

The Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) saw positive trend in early hour of trading on Tuesday amid volatility, the second session after Eid holiday. After first 30 minutes of the day’s trading, DSEX, the prime index of the DSE, went up by 1.42 points or 0.03 per cent to 4,868.18, when the report was filed at 11:00am. The two other induces also saw positive trend. The DS30 index, comprising blue chips gained 0.16 points to 1,863.88. The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) advanced 0.08 points to stand at 1,192.90. DSE turnover stood at only Tk695 million when the report was filed. Of the issues traded till then, 100 advanced, 84 declined and 46 remained unchanged. FAR Chemicals was the most traded stocks till then with shares worth Tk154 million changing hands followed by ACI Saif Powertec, Summit Alliance Port and BSRM Steels. The port city bourse – the CSE also saw upward trend at opening with its Selective Category Index -- CSCX – gaining 3.90 points to stand at 9,074.88, also at 11:00am. Of the issues traded till then, 42 gained, 30 declined and 18 remained unchanged with a turnover value of Tk24 million.
