Stocks open positive

Share prices on the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) saw positive trend in early hours of trading on Sunday amid modest seesaw, the first trading day of the week. DSEX, the prime index of the DSE, went up by 6.56 points or 0.14 per cent to stand at 4,627.79 points within first 30 minutes of trading when the report was filed at 11am. The DS30 index, comprising blue chips gained 9.74 points or 0.58 per cent to reach at 1,679.89 points. The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) also moved up by 2.99 points or 0.29 per cent to stand at 1,011.46 points. DSE turnover stood at Tk 662 million when the report was filed at 11am. Of the issues traded till then, 85 advanced, 68 declined and 36 remained unchanged. Lafarge Surma Cement was the most traded stocks with shares worth Tk 130 million changing hands till then followed by Heidelberg Cement, Padma Oil, Olympic Industries and GP. The port city bourse – the CSE – also witnessed positive trend at opening with its Selective Category Index --- CSCX gaining 13.75 points or 0.15 per cent to stand at 8,972.80 points, also at 11am. Of the issues traded till then, 29 gained, 27 declined and 13 remained unchanged with a turnover value of Tk 39 million.
