Stocks positive at opening

Share prices on both bourses – Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) – witnessed upward trend in early hours of trading on Thursday, the last trading day of the week. DSEX, the prime index of the DSE, went up by 23.09 points or 0.51 per cent to stand at 4,521.86 points within first 30 minutes of trading when the report was filled at 11am. DSE Shariah Index (DSES) gained 3.50 points or 0.35 per cent to stand at 982.85 points. The DS30 index, comprising blue chips, also went up by 6.66 points or 0.41 per cent to reach at 1,613.57 points. DSE turnover stood at Tk 261 million when the report was filed at 11am. Of the issues traded till then, 98 advanced, 43 declined and 25 remained unchanged. Square Pharma was the most traded stocks with shares worth Tk 35 million changing hands till then followed by BSCCL, City Bank, ONE Bank and BSC. The port city bourse – the CSE – also witnessed positive trend at opening with its Selective Category Index --- CSCX gaining 22.18 points or 0.25 per cent to stand at 8,787.956 points, also at 11am. Of the issues traded till then, 33 gained, 20 declined and 7 remained unchanged with a turnover value of Tk 19 million.
