Stocks see choppy trading at opening

Share prices on the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) saw positive trend in early hours of trading on Monday amid choppy trading, the second trading session of the week. DSEX, the prime index of the DSE, went up by 7.45 points or 0.07 per cent within first five minutes of trading, but it lost its momentum as the session progressed. After first 30 minutes of trading, the DSEX stood at 4,520.74 points, gaining only 1.20 points or 0.02 per cent when the report was filled at 11am. DSE Shariah Index (DSES) lost 0.45 points or 0.04 per cent to stand at 978.28 points. The DS30 index, comprising blue chips, also lost 0.31 points or 0.01 per cent to reach at 1,614.88 points. DSE turnover stood at Tk 311 million when the report was filed at 11am. Of the issues traded till then, 80 advanced, 56 declined and 37 remained unchanged. Emerald Oil Industries was the most traded stocks with shares worth Tk 49.24 million changing hands till then followed by BSC, Lafarge Surma Cement, National Tubes and BD Building. The port city bourse – the CSE – witnessed negative trend at opening with its Selective Category Index --- CSCX losing 4.73 points to stand at 8,797.80 points, also at 11am. Of the issues traded till then, 16 gained, 26 declined and 7 remained unchanged with a turnover value of Tk 22.55 million.
