Stocks see down-trend at opening

The prices of most of the stocks on the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) witnessed downward trend in early hours of trading Tuesday amid minor see-saw. DSEX, the prime index of the DSE went down by 9.31 points or 0.19 per cent to stand at 4,788.66 points after first 30 minutes of trade at 11am. The DS30 index, comprising blue chips also lost by 8.48 points or 0.50 per cent to reach at 1,682.56 points. DSEX Shariah Index (DSES) declined 5.84 points or 0.58 per cent to stands at 989.88 points.The turnover value stands at Tk 623.86 million on DSE floor when the report was filed at 11am. Of the issues traded till then, 80 gained, 82 declined and 38 remained unchanged.AFC Agro Biotech Ltd, which makes debut today (Tuesday), is the most traded stocks with shares worth Tk 104.91 million changing hands till then followed by GrameenPhone, Square Pharma, Padma Life Insurance and BSCCL.The port city bourse – the CSE also saw negative trend at opening and the Selective Category Index - CSCX lost 10.68 points or 0.11 per cent to stand at 9,425.87 points, also at 11am.Of the issues traded till then, 24 gained, 36 declined and 57 remained unchanged with a turnover value of Tk 57 million.
