Stocks see downturn with volatility

Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) saw downward trend in early hour of trading on Wednesday, the fourth session of the week. The prime index of the DSE –DSEX, went down by 7.20 points or 0.16 per cent to reach at 4,403.37, after first 30 minutes of the trade when the report was filed at 11am, although it was up nearly 13 points within first 15 minutes of trade. The two other indices also saw negative trend. The DS30 index, comprising blue chips fell 2.20 points or 0.13 per cent to reach at 1,679.27. The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) shed 3.54 points or 0.33 per cent to stand at 1,066.62. DSE turnover stands at Tk 453 million when the report was filed at 11am. Of the issues traded till then, 91 advanced, 78 declined and 44 issues remained unchanged. Titas Gas was the most traded stocks till then with shares Tk 103 million changing hands followed by Saif Powertec, Mozaffar Hossain Spinning Mills, IFAD Autos and KDS Accessories. The port city bourse – the CSE- also saw negative trend with its Selective Category Index -- CSCX – losing 1.42 points to stand at 8,190.84, also at 11am. Of the issues traded till then, 36 gained, 41 declined and 12 issues remained unchanged with a turnover value of Tk 43 million.
