Stocks see downward trend

Share prices on the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) witnessed downward trend in early hours of trading on Tuesday amid modest volatility. DSEX, the prime index of the DSE, went down by 3.20 points or 0.07 per cent to stand at 4,462.87 points within first 30 minutes of trading when the report was filled at 11am. DSE Shariah Index (DSES) lost 3.64 points or 0.37 per cent to stand at 964.32 points. The DS30 index, comprising blue chips, also lost 3.71 points or 0.23 per cent to reach at 1,585.66 points. DSE turnover stood at Tk 365.66 million when the report was filed at 11am. Of the issues traded till then, 102 advanced, 42 declined and 33 remained unchanged. Square Pharma was the most traded stocks with shares worth Tk 42 million changing hands till then followed by BSC, Emerald Oil Industries, Lafarge Surma Cement and Familytex BD. The port city bourse – the CSE – also witnessed negative trend at opening with its Selective Category Index --- CSCX losing 6.63 points or 0.07 per cent to stand at 8,692.26 points, also at 11am. Of the issues traded till then, 28 gained, 19 declined and 13 remained unchanged with a turnover value of Tk 21.16 million.
