Stocks see marginal gain on bourses

Stocks on both Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) ended the sessions with a marginal gain for the second session due to investors' buying spree observed Tuesday, stock brokers said.
On the day the DSE benchmark index-DSEX-rose 0.25 per cent or 12.80 points to close at 4969.73 points.
DSE Shariah Index went up by 0.32 per cent or 3.86 points to close at 1183.21 points, whereas DSE30 Index posted a gain of 0.19 per cent or 3.48 points to close at 1849.22 points.
Investors remained enthusiastic on upcoming monetary policy and yearly corporate results, said a market review of the IDLC Investments.
Market gained strength supported by mid and small cap stocks ahead of the monetary policy for the second half of fiscal 2014-15 to be announced later in this month, said another market review of LankaBangla Securities.
It also said that growing private sector credit shows a boost up in business confidence at the first half of the current fiscal year.
At the end of Tuesday trading session,  among 311 traded issues, 155 advanced, 108 declined and remaining 48 remained unchanged on the premier bourse.
At the end of the day's trading session, the turnover value stood at above Tk 4.04 billion which is 2.97 per cent lower than the value observed in previous session.
IDLC topped the chart of turnover leaders with a value of Tk 163.42 million followed by Barkatullah Electro Dynamics, Saif Powertec, Fu-Wang Food, Western Marine Shipyard, DSECO, Bangladesh Building Systems (BBS), Agni Systems, ALLTEX and Grameenphone.
Northern Jute Manufacturing Company topped the chart of day's top ten gainers with a change of 8.75 per cent to close at Tk 293.30, whereas Daffodil Computers was the worst loser with a fall of 4.83 per cent to close at Tk 13.80.
On the port city bourse-Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE), benchmark index CASPI rose 46.76 points to close at 15263.04 points.
Among 242 traded issues, 134 advanced, 78 declined and remaining 30 remaining 30 remained unchanged.
At the end of the day's session, the turnover value stood at above Tk 307.94 billion.
