Stocks see volatility at opening

The Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) witnessed volatile trading in early hour of trading on Thursday, the last session of the week. DSEX, the prime index of the DSE, went up by 5.22 points or 0.30 per cent to 4,592.07, after the first 30 minutes of trade, when the report was filed at 11:00am. The two other indices also saw positive trend. DS30 index, comprising blue chips, gained 6.04 points or 0.34 per cent to 1,763.93. The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) advanced 3.77 points or 0.33 per cent to stand at 1,117.14 points. DSE turnover stood at Tk868 million when the report was filed. Of the issues traded till then, 90 advanced, 83 declined and 30 remained unchanged. Summit Power was the most traded stocks with shares worth Tk118 million changing hands followed by KPCL, Trust Bank, Shasha Denims and SPCL. However, the port city bourse – CSE - saw negative trend in early hour with its Selective Category Index -- CSCX – losing 2.45 points to 8,582.19, also at 11:00am. Of the issues traded till then, 36 gained, 58 declined and 12 remained unchanged with a turnover value of Tk84 million.
