Stocks witness mixed trend at opening

The Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) saw mixed trend in early hour of trading on Tuesday amid volatility, the third trading session of the week. DSEX, the prime index of the DSE, went down by 0.19 points to 4,815.45, after first 30 minutes of trade, when the report was filed at 11am. The DS30 index, comprising blue chips, lost 1.42 points or 0.07 per cent to 1,867.89. However, the DSE Shariah Index (DSES) advanced 0.41 points or 0.03 per cent to stand at 1,189.42. Turnover on the DSE stood only Tk664 million when the report was filed. Of the issues traded till then, 114 advanced, 87 declined and 58 remained unchanged. United Power Generation and Distribution Company was the most traded stocks with shares worth Tk67 million changing hands followed by FAR Chemicals, Bangladesh Building Systems, Islami Bank and Bengal Windsor. The port city bourse – the CSE, however, saw positive amid choppy trend in early hour of trading with its Selective Category Index -- CSCX – gaining 7.45 points to 9,015.07, also at 11am. Of the issues traded till then, 43 gained, 35 declined and 25 remained unchanged with a turnover value of Tk39 million.
