Stocks witness see-saw at opening

The Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) witnessed heavy volatility in early hour of trading on Tuesday, the third trading session after budget announcement. DSEX, the prime index of the DSE, went up by 6.06 points or 0.13 per cent to 4,548.34, after the first 30 minutes of trade, when the report was filed at 11:00am. The DS30 index, comprising blue chips, gained 4.37 points or 0.25 per cent to 1,752.53. The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) advanced 0.72 points or 0.06 per cent to reach 1,103.90 points. DSE turnover stood at Tk826 million when the report was filed. Of the issues traded till then, 102 advanced, 78 declined and 27 remained unchanged. United Airways was the most traded stocks with shares worth Tk117 million changing hands followed by KPCL, Beximco, Summit Power and BSCCL. The port city bourse – CSE— saw downward trend in early hour amid volatility with its Selective Category Index -- CSCX – losing 12.77 points to stand at 8,446.82 points, also at 11am. Of the issues traded till then, 43 gained, 63 declined and 16 remained unchanged with a turnover value of Tk81.65 million.
