Stocks witness volatility at opening

The Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) saw high volatility in early hour of trading on Sunday, the first trading session of the week. DSEX, the prime index of the DSE, went up by 10.61 points or 0.21 per cent to 4,875.06, after the first 30 minutes of trade, when the report was filed at 11am. The DS30 index, comprising blue chips, gained 9.24 points or 0.48 per cent to 1,896.07. The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) advanced 3.98 points or 0.33 per cent to stand at 1,201.06. Turnover on the DSE stood at Tk1.36 billion when the report was filed. Of the issues traded till then, 124 advanced, 83 declined and 37 remained unchanged. United Power was the most traded stocks with shares worth Tk145 million changing hands followed by ACI, BSCCL, Bengal Windsor and BSRM. The port city bourse – CSE— also saw fluctuation in early hour of trading with its Selective Category Index -- CSCX – gaining 4.07 points to 9,084.04, also at 11am. Of the issues traded till then, 71 gained, 50 declined and 16 remained unchanged with a turnover value of Tk74 million.
