Stop load shedding during public exams
Wednesday, 22 April 2026
Frequent and prolonged load shedding has become a serious obstacle to students' academic preparation at a critical time. The SSC examinations have just started, and the HSC examination, scheduled for June, is fast approaching. But the ongoing power crisis is causing serious inconvenience to students.
At this crucial stage, students require a stable and uninterrupted electricity supply to prepare effectively. Unfortunately, excessive power outages-particularly during evening hours, the most important time for study-are severely hampering concentration and productivity. In many areas, electricity is cut off multiple times a day, creating an unstable learning environment.
In today's digital age, this problem is even more concerning. Many students depend on online resources, recorded lectures, and internet-based study materials. Load shedding deprives them of access to these essential tools, placing them at a clear disadvantage.
The situation is also taking a toll on students' mental well-being, leading to anxiety, frustration, and stress. If this continues, it may adversely affect their academic performance and future prospects.
In view of this, the concerned authorities must take immediate and effective measures to minimise, if not completely eliminate, load shedding during this examination period. Ensuring a reliable power supply would significantly support students in their preparation and help create a fair environment for all examinees.
