Stop plying illegal small vehicles on roads: HC
Monday, 15 September 2014
The High Court Monday asked the authorities concerned to stop within 72 hours plying of illegal vehicles like ‘Nasimon’, ‘Karimon’, ‘Bhutbhuti’, ‘Mahindra’ and ‘Easybike’ on roads in Barisal, Khulna, Madaripur, Faridpur and Rajbari districts.
The deputy commissioners (DCs) and the superintendents of police (SPs) of Barisal, Khulna, Madaripur, Faridpur and Rajbari districts have been asked to submit separate reports on compliance within two weeks, according to a news agency.
Passing the interim orders after a brief hearing on a public interest litigation (PIL) writ petition, an HC division bench comprising Justice Salma Masud Chowdhury and Justice M Khasruzzaman issued rule asking the government to explain in four weeks why directive should not be given to stop operating such vehicles on the roads.
