Stop propaganda against Bangladesh

Bangladesh Hindu Buddhist Christian Kalyan Front urges India

FE REPORT | Friday, 6 December 2024

The Bangladesh Hindu Buddhist Christian Kalyan Front on Thursday called upon the Indian religion-based political parties and media to keep away from spreading propaganda against Bangladesh.
Ties between the two neighbouring countries should be based on humanity rather than considering caste, creed and religious background, leaders of the organisation said.
They made the observations at a press briefing at the National Press Club in the capital in protest against the anti-Bangladesh propaganda by some Indian media and religious bigotry persons.
After the fall of deposed autocratic ruler Sheikh Hasina, a vested quarter of the Indian fanatic politicians and media were escalating propaganda on Hindu persecution in Bangladesh to tarnish the country's image including the interim government to the world, speakers said.
They also condemned attack on the Bangladesh Assistant High Commission in Agartala, India, and burned effigy of Dr Muhammad Yunus, chief adviser of Bangladesh.
Addressing the press briefing, chairman of the organisation Bijan Kanti Sarker urged the Indian government to refrain from showing excessive compassion to a particular party or ideology.
He said, "Awami League (AL) doesn't trust the people of Bangladesh but believes New Delhi as its savior. AL considered Hindus as their purchased slave. Not only Hindus but other religious minorities were not even safe during the AL regime."
"Bangladesh and India are two independent and sovereign neighbouring countries, must have mutual honour and respect from both sides," he added.
He demanded to stop anti-Bangladesh campaign from India aiming to destabilise communal harmony among the people of Bangladesh.
"It is the right time to boost mutual relations and building trust between Dhaka and Delhi. The interim government is working to this end," he mentioned.
