Stop using chemicals in Jilapi

Wednesday, 11 March 2026

Jilapi is one of those sweets that almost everyone loves. Recently, however, what is happening with jilapi is quite upsetting. Several reports and social media posts suggest that some sellers are mixing a chemical called hydrose into jilapi to make it look crispier and more attractive. This practice is extremely harmful for our health.
Consuming such adulterated food can cause stomach pain and digestive problems. If eaten regularly, it may even lead to serious health complications over time. Food should nourish our bodies, not put our health at risk.
The Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection (DNCRP) has taken some steps by inspecting sellers in different areas. While this is a positive sign, these efforts alone are not enough. Stronger monitoring and tougher penalties are needed for those who violate food safety rules. At the same time, stricter food safety standards must be enforced to ensure that the food people consume is safe.
Consumers also have an important role to play. We should be cautious when buying food. If jilapi looks unusually perfect or suspiciously crispy, it is wise to think twice before purchasing it. If we notice anything suspicious, we should report it to the relevant authorities.
Food safety is not only the responsibility of the government; it is a shared responsibility. It begins with each of us making careful choices every day to protect our health and the well-being of our communities.
