Storm Thane crosses Tamil Nadu coast

The severe cyclonic storm 'Thane' with a core of hurricane wind over the south-west Bay and adjoining area moved westwards and crossed the coast of Tamil Nadu of India till 10:00 pm Friday. The storm was likely to move in a westerly direction and weaken gradually by giving precipitation, a weather bulletin said on the day. Maritime ports of Chittagong, Cox's Bazar and Mongla have been advised to lower signals.
