Storms hit villages in Barisal, Chandpur

BARISAL, July 27 (UNB): At least eight people were injured and some 200 houses damaged in a violent storm in Muladi Upazila early Friday. Witnesses said the storm struck Baliakandi, Laxmipur and Jalalabad villages in the upazila at about 5:00 am, destroying the dwellings and also toppling a good number of trees. Meanwhile, in Chandpur tornadoes hit seven villages in Matlab and Faridganj upazilas Friday and Thursday, leaving at least 20 people injured and over 150 dwelling houses damaged. — UNB
