Stranded launch resumes operation in Meghna River

A launch named Sundarban-8, which ran aground at a shoal in Meghna River near Ilisha Ferry Ghat at Bhola Sadar Upazila early Tuesday, started movement in the morning after remaining stranded there for 6 hours. Locals said Sundarban-8, with 1,000 passengers on board from Dhaka got standard in Meghna River near Ilisha Ferry Ghat around 3am after hitting a shoal while it was heading towards Barisal Launch Terminal. Passengers said the incident took place as the vessel’s sareng (master) ran into a wrong way. Later, it resumed operation around 9.00am with the approach of tidal waves, according to UNB.
