Strategies, techniques needed to build competitive pvt sector

IFC-SEDF organised a two-day training programme on competitiveness on June 2-3 at a city hotel aiming at helping local businesses to prosper under such increased competition with better strategies.
The objective of the training was to bring together business leaders, entrepreneurs and public-sector officials to discuss and debate on how Bangladeshi firms could compete and prosper in the local, regional, and international marketplace. The seminar also focused on field-tested strategies and techniques for building a more competitive Bangladeshi private sector.
The main issues of the seminar included importance of competitiveness and its usefulness to firms, industries and nations; increased competitiveness translating to higher sales, profit, wages and growth; competitiveness relating to national prosperity; role of clusters in creating a competitive environment, seven patterns of uncompetitive behaviour; mixture of good strategy and operational efficiency and their contribution to firms' successes and roles of public and private sectors in fostering greater prosperity for the country.
A total of 80 CEOs/top management and mid-level executives from 54 leading businesses including IFC-SEDF partner companies and high-level executives from Export Promotion Bureau, Board of Investment, relevant ministries, and chambers participated in the seminar.
OTF Group, a leading international strategy and management-consulting firm, facilitated the programme.
