Strict security measures ahead of re-opening RUET, RMC

RAJSHAHI, Apr 24 (UNB): Adequate security measures have been taken at Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology (RUET) and Rajshahi Medical College (RMC) prior to re-opening of both the educational institutions after one and a half months' unscheduled closure following campus violence.
According to decisions taken by authorities of the two institutions, RUET would be reopened Sunday while RMC following the day.
Rajshahi University (RU) authorities may decide to re-open the university at the end of the current month after observing the overall situation in RUET and RMC.
All dormitories of the both educational institutions would be re-opened Saturday for the students who have valid identity cards. A large number of police and Ansar members have been deployed on both the campuses to maintain law and order.
But all kinds of political activities, including holding meeting, procession and even discussion in mosques, would remain suspended until further order.
Classes at Rajshahi College may resume on May 6 after its summer vacation.
