Strike halts RU academic activities

The Rajshahi University unit of the Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) has called an indefinite strike, demanding the arrest and punishment of the killers of Chhatra League leader Rustam. The strike, enforced at RU from this (Saturday) morning, has halted classes and examinations scheduled for today. BCL General Secretary Towhid Al Tuhin announced the indefinite strike programme on Friday. He told journalists reporters that the strike would last till the assassins were arrested and put on trial. Rustam Ali Akanda, Joint Secretary of the Suhrawardi Hall BCL unit committee, was shot dead on the campus around noon on Friday. He was a third-year student of the political science department, according to bdnews24.com.
