Tea prices were higher last week, as the demand for all varieties was strong, according to a release of the National Brokers Limited.
Loose tea buyers and small packers were selective in the market.
CTC LEAF: 16,367 packages and 344 packages of old season teas on offer continued to see a strong demand.
BROKENS: BOPs were in strong demand and were dearer often by Tk 2.0 to Tk 3.0 and prices for these ranged between Tk 212 and Tk 217. Other Brokens, particularly the bright liquoring types, also saw a strong market.
FANNINGS: Bright liquoring varieties were a strong market and were generally fully firm to dearer. Mediums were steady whilst plainer types were slightly dearer.
CTC DUST: 3,457 packages and 34 packages of old season teas on offer met with a stronger demand. Better liquoring varieties were fully firm to slightly dearer on a competition, selling between Tk 220 and Tk 225 and sometimes more. All others were sold at around last levels in line with quality. Blenders lent stronger support with fairly good interest from the Loose tea buyers.
