Communications Minister Obaidul Quader has said the structural work of Padma Bridge has already started following the international rules. He said the main work of the bridge is progressing well and in the meantime 30 technicians of ‘China Major Bridge’ reached the project sites in Munshiganj. He said ferry and launch terminals of Mawa under Lauhajang Upazila of Munshiganj district will be transferred to Shimulia by October. Quader said the World Bank’s plan has not been changed and main work of the structure of the Padma Bridge is progressing as per the WB’s plan. ‘The work of the Padma Bridge will be completed from the own fund’ the minister said. ‘Some structural works of the bridge are being completed in China which will be brought to Bangladesh,’ Quader said at ‘Padma Rest House’ at Mawa after visiting river-erosion in Padma River at Mawa Turning Point, according to BSS.
