Student shot dead buried in Jessore

JESSORE, Apr 4: Madaninagar Hafizia Madrasa student and also the moazzin of the madrasa mosque under Monirampur Upazila in Jessore was buried at his family graveyard under police cordons Sunday night.
Several hundred villagers were present at the time of funeral of the adolescent. Eyewitnesses confirmed that the madrasa student was shot dead by the police from close distance although the police denied the allegation.
The body was taken to his village Chakla at around 10pm Sunday. There he was buried after the Janaja prayer.
Earlier, another Janaja was held at Jessore Eidgah amid tight police cordons. Former minister and also BNP's standing committee member Tariqul Islam, lawmaker for Jessore-3 Khaledur Rahman Tito, Jessore Municipality mayor Maruful Islam and people of all walks of life took part in the Janaja.
No case was filed and none was arrested in this connection with the killing. Due to the police shootout, Monday's general strike was unprecedented in Jessore. It was peaceful too.
