Student uprising causes a stir in British polity

There has been massive student demonstrations in London against hiking of student fees. This is reminiscent of the student uprising of the sixties. The Swedish students, studying in Britain, have been protesting, too. At home, they pay no tuition fees.
The Liberal Democratic Party, a partner in the British conservative coalition has a powerful student lobby. According to the Guardian, LDP is divided into three factions. The strongest faction backs the students. The student unrest is likely to have a severe political fall-out. The tenure of the incumbent British govternment. now entails a great risk. A fresh general election may be required to be held.
Meanwhile, the Wikileaks affairs have also given drastic blows to both British and Swedish governments which have been portrayed as just following the orders of the US government. The support for Wikileaks' chief is strong both in Britain and Sweden. There have been street demonstrations both in Sweden and Britain against his detention under clumsy charges. People are calling it 'murder of democracy.'
