Students block city road protesting VAT

Students of East-West University (EWU) blocked Wednesday a road in the city protesting the imposition of VAT on the tuition fees of private universities. As a result, traffic on the  Rampura Bridge road in the city was disrupted for half an hour. Witnesses said the EWU students took to the streets near Rampura Bridge around 2:00pm protesting the government's move to impose 7.5 per cent VAT on the tuition fees of the private universities, disrupting traffic on the busy road.     — UNB
