Students' council at 8,684 Rajshahi schools

RAJSHAHI, Feb 23 (BSS): Students council has been formed through direct election in 8,684 primary schools in all eight districts under Rajshahi division.
Abul Kalam Azad, divisional deputy director of Department of Primary Education, here told the news agency that a seven-member students' council has been formed with at least two candidates from each class for one-year term recently.
Students took part in all process of the election by themselves and also cast their votes to elect the council members spontaneously.
He added that it helped build democratic attitude and tolerance of others' opinions among students and involved them in school development activities.
The elected councils will meet once in a month and a general council will be held every six months with the presence of other students.
Talking to the news agency on the issue Ayub Ali, Headmaster of Ghoramara Government Primary School, said the council will monitor seven main tasks in terms of books and learning instruments, health, sports and culture, water resources, midday meals and greetings and entertainment.
