Students generate ideas for branding

A branding based competition, Good Luck presenting 'BRANDrill' powered by Click, was inaugurated on March 27 to help business studies students from universities all around the country get a clear understanding of branding and learn how to do so in a greater extent.
The competition is being organised for the second time by Voice of Business - a publication club run by the students from Faculty of Business Studies, University of Dhaka. Registration for the competition started last week. The event, where undergraduate students from all universities, will get the chance to take part is separated in four levels where the students would take part in teams consisting of three or four members. Registration continued till early hour of April 09. Students were able to register their teams online and at the booths established at their universities.
At the first round, the teams will submit their ideas online. Among them, best 50 teams with their ideas will be selected for a further round. At the second round, branding workshops and instruction sessions will be organised for the participants. After that, the teams will present their branding ideas by making television commercials.
The month long event's grand finale is expected to be held on April 29, where the champion team will be awarded with Tk one lakh, and the first and the second runner-up team will be awarded with Tk 60,000 and Tk 40,000 respectively. Voice of Business's public relation executive Afroza Akter Sraboni said, "We believe that a brand is something that not only holds an identity but also is a promise that time has carried from the past through experiences and expectations. Branding has developed to be a well-established trend in the business world and proved itself to be a necessity. The competition will help the students in understanding branding and it's necessity and they will also get the chance to learn the techniques of making a brand popular."
The Voice of Business, the first ever student run annual business magazine from Faculty of Business Studies, University of Dhaka, came into life in the year of 2007 with the mission of being a disclosure from the future professionals. It commenced its journey with the intent to act as the voice of students of the faulty, and to bridge the gap between the corporate world and students. With the publication of eight successful issues, VoB has grown to become the largest student run publication in the country.
Besides being a publication, the Voice of Business also functions as a full-fledged business club. It is committed to bringing in firsthand knowledge, tips and advice from industry experts, pioneers and leaders. VoB regularly arranges seminars and workshops.
