Students-hawkers clash leave six injured at DU

A group of students of Dhaka University clashed with hawkers at Bakushah Market in the city's Nilkhet area over price of books that left at least six people injured.
Witnesses and police said a student of the country's leading public university locked in an altercation with a street bookseller over price of a book at about 5:30pm that resulted in the clash.
During the chase and counter chase, both sides used brickbats that left at least four hawkers and two students injured. The injured were given first aid at various city hospitals.
Later, the unruly students vandalised a number of shops in the market, where hundreds of small bookshops are located. The market remained closed during the clash.
On information, police rushed to the spot and took the situation under control. Additional police force was deployed in the area to avert further trouble.
