PRIMET programme, a medical admission coaching centre, has set a record of grooming students in best possible way for coming out successfully in competitive medical admission test.
"Every year students of our teaching programme secure majority of the seats in medical colleges which is a testimony to our professionalism," Primet Chairman Dr. Md. Saiful Islam Parvez told the FE.
Primet is a teaching programme designed to help students get prepared ahead of medical admission test every year. This year some 21,000 students contested for 2060 seats in 13 medical colleges across the country.
This year over 1,000 students from Primet came out successfully securing top positions in the combined national merit list. Primet students occupied a good number of seats in the Dhaka Medical College, which is the most coveted medical education institution for students.
A good number of the seats in Sir Salimullah Medical College and other reputed medical colleges also went to Primet.
Primet Programme is run by four professional physicians who design course materials, conduct training courses to help students prepare for the most-contested admission test for higher studies.
Having two branches in Dhaka, Primet has also 16 branches in other major districts in the country.
Primet Programme awarded over 1,000 students for their outstanding performance in medical college admission test in 2006-2007 session recently.
Md. Shahnewaz Biswas of Mirzapur Cadet College stood first in combined national merit list scoring 184.75 out of 200 marks, Maliha Tasnim of Sarada Sundori Mohila College, Faridpur stood third and Rafid Ahmed of Notre Dame College stood fifth. These three meritorious students who got enrolled in Primet were presented with computer, full set of medical curriculum books and full bone sets from Primet as recognition of their outstanding results.
Director of Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) and former President of American Chamber of Commerce in Bangladesh (AmCham) Aftab ul Islam handed over certificates, gifts and crests to the meritorious students.
More than 1,000 students attended the award-giving ceremony held at BIAM auditorium in the city.
Praising the move, Aftab ul Islam said such initiatives to award students should encourage them to pursue a challenging career in medical science. He said Bangladesh has made tremendous progress in health sector with the government putting special emphasis to ensure quality health services in government and private medical institutions. "You are the nation-builders of tomorrow. And we salute you for the outstanding successes," the chief guest commented.
Managing Director of Primet Programme Dr. Tito, and Directors Dr.Md Zahirul Islam and Dr. Sami were also present on the occasion.
