Students not to pay VAT this year: Muhith
Friday, 11 September 2015
Finance Minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith on Friday said the private university students do not need to pay additional VAT this year. “What I think is… this time nobody is going to be charged. They (universities) will pay it from what (tuition fees) have already been collected,” he said. The minister came up with the remarks while responding to queries from reporters after an award giving ceremony at a Dhaka hotel. Muhith also said the university authorities have agreed to pay the value added tax (VAT). Asked whether the VAT is going to be imposed on students in future, the finance minister said it will be considered in the coming days, according to a news agency.
