FE REPORT | Monday, 11 August 2025
Students from engineering colleges in Mymensingh, Faridpur, Sylhet and Barishal have intensified their call for the government to fulfil their nine-point charter of demands, including administrative and academic autonomy for their colleges.
On Sunday, they held a hunger strike in front of the National Press Club in the capital to voice their demands.
Their key demands also include recruiting more teachers and securing adequate government funding for their institutions.
The students have been boycotting classes and exams since May 20. Prior to the hunger strike, they conducted a sit-in protest from July 27 to August 9.
On July 31, the students issued an ultimatum to the relevant authorities, but as of Sunday, they said they had not received any positive response.
The students have vowed to continue their strike until all demands are met.
