Sunday, 3 November 2024

Students of seven colleges have announced a class and exam boycott, demanding changes, including the formation of a commission to upgrade the affiliated colleges into independent universities, reports bdnews24.com.
At a press conference held at Dhaka College Cafeteria on Saturday, they declared a boycott till Nov 4.
Speaking at the event, student representative Zakaria Bari Sagar said, "Our programme will continue to press for demands, including an end to any conspiracy against the seven colleges, retraction of the Chief Advisor's press secretary's 'irresponsible statement,' cancellation of the current committee, formation of a commission, and the inclusion of student representatives."
For several days, students from these seven affiliated colleges have consistently protested, demanding for their colleges to become independent universities.
There have also been calls from Dhaka University students to annul the affiliation of these colleges.
In response, Dhaka University has decided to hold discussions with students and stakeholders regarding the government's decision to establish a separate administrative system for the seven colleges under its affiliation.
