Students to get half-fare in city bus services round the week
FE REPORT | Tuesday, 24 September 2024
The transport owners decided to introduce half-fare for the students in uniforms or with IDs seven days a week in all bus services of the metropolitan cities from today (Tuesday).
The Dhaka Road Transport Owners Association (DRTOA) disclosed the decision in an opinion-exchange meeting, held with all the stakeholders at the Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh, on Monday.
The opinion exchange meeting discussed various issues to bring discipline in the city bus services, including stoppage of extortion, abiding by traffic rules, drivers and helpers' safety, etc.
Half-fares on city buses will be collected from the students who would dress in uniform or with student IDs from 6:00 am to 12:00am, according to a press release shared by DRTOA General Secretary Mohammad Saiful Alam.
From December 01, 2021, students have been eligible for half-fare on city buses for five days a week. The previous decision was notified through a circular by the Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA).
The BRTA also in a separate press release, signed by its Executive President Haji Alauddin, made the new decision effective from Tuesday.
