Studying ahead of examinations

THE other day when I was discussing about study habit with one of my college friends, he was referring to one of our batchmates. That batchmate Mukti, just two days after completing SSC, started learning various HSC subjects with the college teachers. By the time the college classes started, he finished all the subjects. When he was attending the classes at the college, he was at ease to understand the difficult things. We, his classmates, went to him for understanding any science or mathematics topic and he was very cordial and comfortable to help us.
Of course, the later story is very impressive. Mukti completed his graduation from the department of computer science and engineering in Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) with a brilliant result and today he is a successful employee in Motorola in the USA.
I just still think how difficult it was for me to understand and complete all the science subjects in HSC in those days. The study load was at least three times than that of SSC and almost all of us had very difficult time to successfully complete the ‘huge’ syllabus.
It was only for wise and hard-working students like Mukti whose life was easier like anything in those days who could forsee their future and study ahead of time.
Studying ahead of time has many advantages. It helps you cover study pressure, you can make up any loss any loss due to illness, win in the competition and obviously this habit helps you enhance confidence.
A person’s brain is many times more powerful than a computer. During your free days when you are relaxed, you can always study extensively and thus get yourself prepared for the classes. You may have weaknesses in certain subjects. You may be weak in mathematics or don't feel comfortable in writing English on your own. You can study seriously and can be confident in those 'panic-creating' subjects.
When you have studied much ahead of time, you can be confident about facing any critical situation in life. Just before exam, you can fall sick anytime. Still, you won't be that much worried. If you can just appear the exam, maybe you will come out successfully since you have already gained good mastery over all your subjects.
When you have finished your subjects, it is more likely you can win in the competitive exams. You have better concept and more confidence than many of your fellow classmates who have not been serious like you. These will give you competitive advantage over others. Also, if you always study for the class in advance, you can understand topics easily. Such habit will also help you pick up important points from teacher's lecture and you can prepare better notes and thus perform better in the exam. In addition, when you have good knowledge on the chapters, you easily diagnose what the teacher is missing and can act accordingly.
Of course, studying ahead of time will give you ample confidence. You can continue with such habits in your working life and you can be successful.
