Substantial investment in water sector sought

Speakers at a dialogue on 'Financing Water Infrastructure in Bangladesh' stressed the need for a sizable investment in the country's water sector.
Organised by Bangladesh Water Partnership, the dialogue was held in the city Saturday.
Dr Wais Kabir, executive chairman of Bangladesh Agricultural Research Centre, was present at the dialogue as the chief guest while Md Shahidul Hassan, president of Bangladesh Water Partnership, chaired the event.
The speakers at the dialogue focused on some major objectives.
One of them was a broad based water resources intervention which can provide national, regional and local benefits and people from all walks of life can gain benefit from that.
They also focussed on shortage of financial resources prevailing in the country's water sector, according to a press release.
