Successful open heart surgery on 6 month old infant at Square Hospital

Square Cardiac team has successfully performed a complex cyanotic congenital heart defect Total Anomalous Pulmonary Venous Connection (TAPVC) survey on 30-06-08 of a six month of old (6 kg) boy. The baby is doing well and ready for discharge, according to a press release of the hospital.
This is a rarely performed procedure in our country. For the first time we have performed such kind of surgery in a 6 month old baby at Square Hospital by a well organised integrated team with modern OR and CT-ICU nurses and technicians. Surgery was performed by Consultant Cardiac Surgeon Dr Apurba Kumar Sarma. His surgical assistants were specialist cardiac surgeon Dr. Kazi M Hasan and Dr.Mahbub.
Anaesthesia and Intensive Care was conducted and supervised by Prof Dr M Ahsanul Habib, Dr Azaharul Islam and Dr Uttam Kumar Sharma.
Intensive Care round the clock was provide by Dr Sazzad, Dr Johir and Dr Jagadananda, Perfusion was conducted by Mr. Joseph, Mr Collin and Md Kamaluddin.
Consultant Neonatal gist Dr Zabrul Haque participated whole heartedly in ICU management.
